It seems some men still can’t let go with dignity. Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has once again managed to drag his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma into unwanted limelight and this time, not with words of closure or maturity but with a careless joke. And joining in on this mockery was fellow cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who seemed to find humour in something that really wasn’t funny.
The drama began innocently enough when Dhawan shared cheerful pictures from his Bhai Dooj celebration. The post was about family, love, and togetherness, everything that should have stayed pure. But Chahal couldn’t resist turning it into a joke.

Under Dhawan’s post, Chahal commented, “Aapke pose pe copyright maar raha hun bhaiya, 4 crores only.” The phrase, which translates to “I’m claiming copyright on your pose for ₹4 crores,” came with a set of laughing emojis.
A simple joke on the surface but anyone who’s followed the cricketer’s personal life knows what that number refers to; the alleged ₹4 crore alimony from his divorce with Dhanashree.
And just like that, what could have been a light-hearted comment thread turned into an insensitive display of mockery toward a woman who has so far chosen grace over gossip.
Let’s rewind for context. Dhanashree and Chahal married in December 2020, during the lockdown of what many thought was a modern-day fairytale. She was a rising choreographer and influencer full of life and positivity. He was a star bowler. Their dance videos, laughter-filled reels, and chemistry made them social media favourites.
But the story changed quietly. By June 2022, they had already separated. Their joint divorce petition came in February 2024, and by March, it was official. Rumours about a ₹4 crore settlement began to swirl online, but neither of them confirmed anything. Dhanashree, as always, stayed dignified. No blame games, no messy interviews, no cryptic posts.
Meanwhile, Chahal moved on quickly, being spotted with radio jockey Mahvash in Dubai during the Champions Trophy final. Although Mahvash insisted they were “just friends”, the gossip train was already running full speed.
Still, Dhanashree never responded to the rumours or the jokes. Even when she appeared on the reality show ‘Rise and Fall’, she spoke about resilience, not revenge.
In a time when women constantly battle for respect, even after a relationship ends, such mockery from public figures sends a terrible message. Fans deserve better from their idols. Dhanashree deserves better from someone she once called her partner.
